Angie and the Anger Lion
About Angie
Emotions are a part of being human, but we don’t have to let them control us!
As a child and an adult, learning to regulate our emotions can be deeply rooted in relying on God's goodness. For children, it starts with prayer and turning to God for peace when emotions feel overwhelming, trusting that His love and patience can help them manage their anger. As adults, this reliance deepens by remembering God's sovereignty and compassion, allowing His peace to guide our reactions in moments of conflict. By focusing on His goodness, adults can pause before reacting, responding with grace and wisdom instead of frustration. Whether as a child or adult, trusting in God's goodness provides the strength to navigate anger and grow in self-control, reflecting His love and patience in every situation.
So, in drawing from her own experience with anger as a little girl, Ruth Apollonia shares her secrets to taming the Anger Lion: realizing Jesus calls us to act differently.
Presented in an easy-to-follow story, Angie and the Anger Lion introduces practical anger management strategies along with the virtue of humility and prayer to God that can assist a child and adult alike in taming any lion one finds in his or her life.
When Ruth was younger, she had some anger issues and would often attack her brothers, especially the youngest, because he was the closest to her in size. It wasn’t until her mom said to her, “Would Jesus want you to hit your brothers?” that she stopped to think about it and decided she shouldn’t act that way.
Years later, Ruth, enhanced by a vivid imagination and wanting to offer anger management tips, wrote the children’s book Angie and the Anger Lion.
Angie and the Anger Lion, illustrated with family photos and published by the same vanity press that published her novels, was released in November 2016. However, the vanity press promptly shut down in January 2017, making her books unavailable. Thus, the children’s book died before it could live.
Ruth does have a limited supply of Angie and the Anger Lion, which can be purchased here, or you can listen to the audiobook below!
Ruth may pursue future editions of the book and other children’s books she has written.
